Examples

Results vary by image.

Application and government forms

Many forms cap images at 200 KB or 1 MB. Keep dimensions first; allow resizing only if needed.

Email attachments

Large phone photos can often get under 500 KB. Check the result at full size before sending.

Transparent PNG logos

PNG can only shrink by reducing colors. If transparency matters, WebP is often a better choice than JPG.

Questions

Why couldn’t it reach my limit?

At its current dimensions, every image has a smallest practical size. Allow smaller dimensions, choose JPG or WebP, or raise the target.

What does “Allow smaller dimensions” do?

If quality alone isn’t enough, we scale the image down in small steps until it fits, and show you the new dimensions.

How do you count KB and MB?

We use 1 KB = 1,024 bytes and 1 MB = 1,024 KB, which is how most upload forms check. Your file manager may show slightly different numbers.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser; images are never uploaded.
